• On June 18, 2025, Sahitya Akademi under

the Ministry of Culture announced the Bal

Sahitya Puraskar to 24 writers and the Yuva

Puraskar to 23 young authors in a board

meeting chaired by its President Sri Madhav

Kaushik.

What You Should Know?

Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar:

• It was instituted in 2011 by Sahitya

Akademi to honour young Indian writers

under 35 for outstanding literary

contributions.

• It is awarded for either the first published

book or the best book by the writer.

• It would be given in 23 languages.

• It includes a copper plaque and a cash prize

of ₹50,000.

Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar:

• It was instituted in 2010 to recognize

children’s writers for exceptional work in

any of the 24 Indian languages recognized

by the Akademi.

• It aims to promote the growth of children’s

literature across India.

• It includes an engraved copper plaque and

a cash prize of ₹50,000.
