The Ministry of Food Processing Industries is organizing the 4th edition of World Food India (WFI) from September 25-28, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Objective: The flagship international event is a major initiative to position India as a 'Global Food Hub' by showcasing its rich food culture and attracting global investment and partnerships.
What you should know?
WFI 2025:
It is set to be the largest edition with participation from over 90 countries and more than 2,000 exhibitors.
The key features include high-level knowledge sessions, B2B and B2G networking opportunities, and sectoral exhibitions.

Government Initiatives to Promote the Food Processing Sector:
Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes:
The government has implemented the PLI Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) with an outlay of ₹10,900.
There is a specific PLI Scheme for Millet-based Products (PLISMBP) has been launched to encourage Ready-to-Eat (RTE) and Ready-to-Cook (RTC) millet products.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY)
It is creating modern infrastructure like mega food parks, cold chains and efficient supply chains.
The PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme
It provides financial, technical, and business support to micro-units.
100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI):
Is permitted in the food processing sector through the automatic route to encourage global investment.
