Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II)
  • Context: 40 villages in Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar districts in Uttarakhand are to be revitalised under Vibrant Villages Programme-II. 

  • Important Pointers: 

  • Type: Central Sector Scheme with 100% Centre funding, unlike VVP-I which was Centrally Sponsored

  • Coverage: Targets strategic villages along international land borders in 17 States/UTs, excluding those covered under VVP-I (2023–24)

  • Objective: Aims to improve living conditions, create livelihoods, curb trans-border crime, and integrate residents as ‘eyes and ears’ for internal security

  • Key Features of VVP-II: 

  • Infrastructure Development: Focus on roads, housing, sanitation, drinking water, and SMART classrooms, with all-weather connectivity via PMGSY-IV

  • Value Chain & Livelihood Development: Promotes cooperatives, SHGs, and border-specific outreach to ensure sustainable rural livelihoods

  • Welfare Scheme Convergence: Ensures full coverage of central welfare schemes through a convergence-based implementation model

  • Cultural & Tourism Promotion: Encourages fairs, festivals, awareness campaigns, and national celebrations to boost local heritage and tourism

  • PM Gati Shakti Use: Implementation to be guided and supported through the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan
