  • Context: The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology has provided financial support to M/s Clearsynth Labs Limited to establish India’s first large-scale manufacturing facility for deuterated reagents and building blocks, aiming to reduce import dependence and boost self-reliance in advanced specialty chemicals.

  • Objective: It aims to promote the development and commercialization of indigenous technology and the adaptation of imported technology for wider application in India. 

  • Board Composition: The Board consists of 11 members, including a Chairman and experts from various fields. 

  • Financial Assistance: TDB provides equity capital, loans to industrial concerns, and financial aid to research and development institutions

  • Funding Source: The Board’s fund comes from Government of India grants, sourced from cess collected under the Research and Development Cess Act, 1986 (amended in 1995).
