Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Initiative
Context:
The Union Minister for Communications recently inaugurated the first 'Samriddhi Kendra' at Umri village in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.
This integrated service centre was launched under the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
About the Initiative:
The core aim of this pilot initiative is to transform the high-speed broadband infrastructure created under BharatNet into an integrated, functional platform for delivering citizen-centric services directly to rural areas.
The 'Phygital' Approach:
The initiative employs a "phygital" (Physical + Digital) model to bridge the urban-rural divide.
It realizes the vision of delivering essential services to rural and remote populations by combining digital connectivity with physical access points.
Role of Samriddhi Kendras:
The newly established Samriddhi Kendras act as a single-window hub for residents of the host village as well as neighbouring communities.
These centres are equipped to provide a wide array of crucial services, including:
Healthcare and e-governance.
Digital education and skilling opportunities.
Modern agriculture services for farmers.
Financial and digital inclusion programs.
By effectively leveraging India's growing digital infrastructure, these centres aim to create local livelihood opportunities and serve as a scalable model for inclusive rural development.
