Oath-Vice President
Why it matters?
C.P. Radhakrishnan will be sworn in as the 15th Vice-President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, administered by President Droupadi Murmu. Leaders of the Opposition and former VP Jagdeep Dhankhar have been invited. Radhakrishnan has also called a meeting of Rajya Sabha floor leaders.
What you should know?
Article 69 of the Constitution mandates that the Vice-President must take an oath or affirmation before entering office.
The oath is administered by the President.
The Vice-President swears (or affirms) to:
Faithfully discharge duties of office
Preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of India
It symbolizes constitutional accountability and commitment to impartiality, especially as the Vice-President is also the Chairperson of Rajya Sabha.
