  • At the G-20 Summit in Johannesburg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed a series of new initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges in health, skills, and security.

  • First G20 Leaders' Summit held in Africa. Declaration emphasizes Ubuntu philosophy — "I am because we are" — reflecting interconnectedness for multilateral cooperation. 

  • The summit highlighted the need to reform global financial architecture (IMF, development banks) and better reflect the voice of the Global South. 

  • Channelled over $100 billion in Special Drawing Rights for countries in need. 

  • Urgent need to scale climate finance from billions to trillions. Developing countries need $5.8-5.9 trillion for nationally determined contributions before 2030
