Mahe (Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft)
Context:
'Mahe', the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW SWC), was delivered to the Indian Navy.
The vessel is named after the historic port town of Mahe in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Development and Indigenous Content
The vessel has been indigenously designed and constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi.
The delivery of 'Mahe', which has over 80% indigenous content, marks a milestone in the government's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The ship is approximately 78 metres long and has a displacement of around 1,100 tons.
Role: It is equipped for:
Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) operations in coastal waters.
Underwater surveillance.
Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO).
Advanced Mine Laying capability.
It is fitted with torpedoes, Multi-functional Anti-Submarine Rockets, and advanced radars and sonars.
