International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed globally on 26th June every year to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve a drug-free world.

The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is organising a national event on 26th June 2025 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
India is observing the day through the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, aiming to make it a Jan Andolan.
The Abhiyaan is operational in all districts across the country with a special focus on youth, schools, universities, and community outreach.
Over 15.78 crore people have been sensitised through various awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
This includes 5.26 crore youth and 3.31 crore women who have participated in awareness campaigns.
More than 4.31 lakh educational institutions have taken part in spreading the message of a drug-free India.
Over 20,000 Master Volunteers have been trained to carry out grassroots mobilisation and awareness drives.
A dedicated mobile application is available on the Google Play Store to collect and monitor real-time data of Abhiyaan activities.
The official Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan website offers details of the campaign, an online discussion forum, an e-pledge facility, and dashboard views at district, state, and national levels.
A national online pledge campaign saw participation of over 1.67 crore students from 99,595 institutions pledging to be drug-free.
Events like 'Nashe se Azaadi', 'Naya Bharat Nasha Mukt Bharat', and 'Interaction with National Cadet Corps' are regularly held to engage youth and stakeholders.
All de-addiction centres under the ministry have been geo-tagged for public convenience and accessibility.
Substance use disorder is treated as a psycho-social-medical issue affecting individuals, families, and society.
From 1st to 26th June 2025, all States, Union Territories, Non-Governmental Organisations, and Voluntary Organisations have been requested to conduct activities under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction.
