Ghana is located in West Africa along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea.
It was known as the Gold Coast before gaining independence in 1957.
It shares land borders with Ivory Coast to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, and Togo to the east.
Its southern boundary is formed by the Gulf of Guinea.
The climate is tropical with two main seasons, wet and dry.
Mount Afadja is the highest peak and is part of the Akwapim-Togo Ranges.
