Exercise Vayu Shakti-26
Context:
The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted Exercise Vayu Shakti-26 at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
The event demonstrated the force's formidable combat readiness, operational synergy, and technological prowess across the full spectrum of air operations.
Key Highlights:
The event was graced by President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces.
In a historic gesture, she undertook a 25-minute sortie as a co-pilot in the indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) 'Prachand', describing it as a "powerful symbol of self-reliance".
The exercise was guided by the core values of "Achook, Abhedya aur Sateek" (Unfailing, Impenetrable, and Precise).
Operational Demonstrations:
A key feature was the simulation of "Operation Sindoor," which involved calibrated strikes on simulated targets such as terror camps, radar sites, and command centers.
This displayed the IAF's strategy for controlled escalation and precision.
The exercise showcased the IAF's ability to dominate the battlespace round-the-clock.
It included:
Precision Strikes: Synchronised attacks by Jaguar and Mirage fighter aircraft.
Combat Support: Reinforcement operations using C-295 transport aircraft and casualty evacuation simulations.
Night Operations: Integrated air defence and air-landed operations followed by precision night strikes.
Technological Display:
The event concluded with a spectacular drone show, where illuminated drones formed shapes including the map of India, the S-400 system, and the SU-30 fighter, celebrating the IAF's legacy.
