1. Abraham Accords

Context:

US President Donald Trump is actively reviving the Abraham Accords as part of broader negotiations to finalize a regional peace deal with Iran.

Facts for Prelims:

The Abraham Accords are a series of diplomatic agreements aimed at normalizing bilateral relations between Israel and historically hostile Arab/Muslim nations.

Brokered by the Trump administration in 2020, the historic foundational agreements were initially signed between Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain.

Morocco and Sudan formally joined the diplomatic framework in separate agreements between 2020 and 2021, followed by Kazakhstan, which officially signed on in 2025.

Prior to the execution of these accords, only Egypt and Jordan maintained formal diplomatic recognition of the state of Israel within the region.
